In September's PBO, David Rainsbury writes: "The Golfe du Morbihan covers an area of nearly 50 square miles of water and islands. Most of the islands are privately owned, though landing is allowed on some of the uninhabited ones. Three rivers feed water into the gulf but most of the volume comes from the sea. The tide runs strongly within the main channels but progress can be made against it through careful use of the smaller channels and by reverse eddies, often close to the shore. The currents are so well defined that changes in the direction of flow can often be observed on the surface."
