The 130-year-old Scottish tall ship, the Falls of Clyde, one of just five surviving Scottish-built tall ships in the world, has had a destruction order temporarily lifted by her owners the Bishop Museum in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The estimated repair bill for the run-down four-masted vessel is $30million (£17million) although a campaign group 'Save the Falls of Clyde' may be given the boat for free, inheriting a huge maintenance job.
The ship has a historical link with the Hawaiian islands going back to the late 19th Century and campaigners, many from the 150-strong Caledonian Society of Hawaii, believe they can garner support from all corners of the globe to save the ship.
